Gifting help 🔗

If you are planning on getting me a gift, thank you! I made this page to help you.

Gift giving can get tricky, sometimes stressful. For me, receiving them is almost always stressful. This tension is unnecessary! Here’s my attempt at diffusing it, and potentially reducing waste.

These are some (kinds of) gifts I enjoy receiving. The order is intentional:

  1. A personal, physical copy of a book that you have read. The more ‘used’ it looks, the better
  2. A non-personal copy of a book that you have read
  3. Just ask me! Surprise gifts are not a pleasant experience for me. In contrast, I find great joy in nonconformity. By simply asking me what I need, you are going against social norms - which is already a gift! Just tell me your budget and I’ll tell you what I need at the moment. You can even use this anonymous contact form to do this!
  4. Straight up, money. If you are meaning to buy me something, and you are less than 90% sure about it - avoid potential waste and just give the equivalent amount, along with a suggestion on what to buy with it.
  5. Something related to one of my interests - Only if we share that particular interest.

I hope this helped. Thank you!
